Journal Entry 11

In The Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh he used plenty of principles and elements of design. This piece is a very beautiful and well known piece. The wavy lines and use of varying colors create movement throughout the entire piece. This piece is very dependent on the movement it really draws the viewer in and helps to move their eyes around the piece. The bright yellow moon creates a focal point. The yellow stars in the sky also help to draw the viewers eye across the piece. The straight lines that make up the houses contrast the fluidity and waviness of the sky. The repetition of the short lines in the piece creates unity.
