Journal Entry 12

In this piece, The Scream by Edvard Munch, he uses the wavy lines to create movement throughout. The straight lines of the boardwalk create contrast against the wavy lines. The bright orange at the top of the piece and darker colors at the bottom create contrast as well. The scream’s face is the focal point but then the wavy lines and colors really draw your eyes around the image. The wavy lines and the screams face really make the viewers feel uncertain and uncomfortable when viewing the piece. There are two people to the left of the piece and it really makes you wonder if that is why the man is scared. The man could also be insane though because how the piece is composed with all of the wavy and fluid lines.
